Getting Here

Our Lodge is located 12km from Lívingston and 30km from the town of Río Dulce (El Relleno/Fronteras). If you are travelling from Guatemala City it is cheaper and easier to get here through Puerto Barríos and Lívingston.

Please call us on 572 51 576 so we can help you to organize the cheapest transport to our place from Fronteras (pueblo Río Dulce) and from Lívingston.

By bus from Guatemala City

If you are travelling from Guatemala City you have two options of getting here: through Puerto Barríos (and Lívingston) or through Fronteras (called Río Dulce town). Try to take an early bus so you can make it for the last public boat (at 13.30 from Río Dulce town and 14.30 from Livingston).

Alternative 1

From Guatemala City to Puerto Barríos, the bus company Transporte Litegua (15ª calle 10–40, Zona 1) runs buses 16 times a day from 05.00–17.00. The deluxe bus takes five hours and costs Q100 (leaves at 07.30, 10.00 and 12.00). A normal bus costs about 65Q and and takes seven hours.

Alternative 2

From Guatemala City to Fronteras (the town of Río Dulce) the bus company Transportes Fuentes del Norte (17ª calle 8–46, zona 1) runs several buses and the journey takes seven hours. The bus fare is about 65Q. Línea Dorada (16ª calle 10–03, zona 1) has more comfortable buses and costs Q100. Also, buses heading for Peten (Flores) will stop at Río Dulce.

By bus from Flores (Peten) to Fronteras (Río Dulce town)

Buses heading for Guatemala City will stop in Fronteras. Two companies (Línea Dorada y Fuentes del Norte run 16 buses leaving daily. The trip takes between three to four hours (deluxe or normal bus). The price varies depending on the bus.

By boat from Punta Gorda, Belize

On Tuesdays and Fridays there is a direct boat from Punta Gorda to Livingston at 10.00 and it takes about 45 min. On all other days, you can take a boat to Puerto Barrios (leaving Punta Gorda at 9.30 am and 14.00, takes one hour) and take another boat to Livingston.

By boat from Puerto Barríos to Lívingston

Public boats leave for Lívingston at 06.30, 07.30, 09.00, 11.00 and then when the boat is full (16 people). The last scheduled boat leaves at 17.00 but sometimes there is a later boat. The fare is Q35 or Q50 per person and the trip takes 30 minutes.

For adventurous travellers, there is also a ferry twice daily (10.30 and 17.00). This trip takes one and a half hours and costs about Q20.

By boat from Lívingston

We can pick you up with our boat from Lívingston (see our price list) if you call us. In Livingston the pickup point is from the Gas Station Texaco (Gasolinera Texaco). You may also try to hitch a local boat from the same place.

Public boats heading for Río Dulce leave Lívingston (main dock) at 09.30 and 14.30 and will charge Q60 per person. These boats will drop you off at el Hotelito Perdido, if you inform them that this is your destination.

From Río Dulce

There are collective (public) boats scheduled from Río Dulce for Lívingston from the main dock (muelle municipal) at 09.30 and 13.30 and possibly at 16.00 (provided that the boat is full). The trip takes over one hour and costs 125Q per person. These boats will drop you off at el Hotelito Perdido, if you inform them that this is your destination.

By boat from Fronteras (called Río Dulce town)

We can pick you up with our boat from Río Dulce town if you call us a day in advance (see our price list). In Río Dulce town the pickup point is from the Restaurant Río Bravo.

There are collective (public) boats scheduled from Río Dulce town for Lívingston from the main dock (muelle municipal) at 09.30 and 13.30 and possibly at 16.00 (provided that the boat is full). The trip takes over one hour and costs 125Q per person. These boats will drop you off at el Hotelito Perdido, if you inform them that this is your destination.

Always make sure that the captain knows ahead of time where you get off. If travelling from Río Dulce town remind the driver that your destination is el Hotelito Perdido when the boat makes a stop at the Hot Springs (we are 5 minutes away).
