  • 3-hour hike to Livingston, a beautiful and unique tour starting at the community project Ak'Tenamit then free time in Livingston and ending with a boat ride through the Rio Dulce Canyon Optional  passing through the Tigers Cave, local Q'eqchi village​
  • Sunrise paddle tour to "Biotopo Chocon Machacas" Manatee Reserve - particularly beautiful and also the most protected part of the local National Park. ​

Off-Site Not Guided:

  • The boat ride from either Rio Dulce town or Livingston to Hotelito Perdido is in itself and unforgettable experience

  • Finca Paraiso, a famous hot-water waterfall 
  • Castillo de San Felipe, a fortress built in 1652 to ward off pirates
  • Quirigua, Mayan ruins
  • Near Livingston find these and many more intriguing sites:
  • Bird Island with hundreds of bird species
  • Manatee Reserve called Biotopo Cochon Machacas, the mose protected part of the river
  • Cayo Quemado, international community and Texan Bay Marina
  • Hot Springs, sulphur spring coming out of the banks of the Rio Dulce river and a cave with a natural asuna inside
  • Visitors Center of Ak'Tenamit, a community development project supporting over 25 villages with education, healthcare and sustainable development. There is a park with a restaurant, a school with 350 students, and a shop with handmade souvenirs. 
  • Waterfall Lampara at the end f Rio Lampara with hidden pools behind the waterfall

Río Dulce is known as paradise for bird watchers. The best spot is on Río Tameja, a small subsidiary river next to our Río Lampara. The following species have been observed and listed by Denny and Nancy Baker who stayed on the river from 20th to 22nd February, 2011.

​​Livingston:
With population of 12,000 it is a multicultural town and a centre of cultural activity. It has a great ethnical mix of Garifunas, Latinos, and various groups of Indigenous Maya, Chinese, Vietnamese and Hindu origin people all living peacefully. There is market, numerous small shops, medical clinic, bank, internet cafes, public phones, discotheque and a range of restaurants and hotels. Nearby Livingston there is a waterfall Siete Altares and two white sand Caribbean beaches called Playa Blanca and Playa Cocoli (accessible by boat). Livingston is a great place to visit if you like to go out. It has a couple of lively discos which fill up with locals and tourists on the weekends and there are many colorful fiestas.

Fiestas:
1st of January:The New Year celebration. On this day the streets of the town fill with the Yankunu dance (continued from the 31th December).
6th January:Day of Kings Magos, celebrated with the commemorative mass and it is accompanied in the entire town by the Yankunu dance.
Easter (Semana Santa):religious celebrations with allegorical processions. On Thursday and Good Friday you can watch a live show with scenes from life of Jesus.
15th May:Day of Saint Isidor, the Patron of Agriculture celebrated with food competitions, procession and dances on the streets.
15th September:Independence Day. From the night before, the streets are filled with colorful parades and music.
1st and 2nd November:All Saints Day and Day of the Dead. Impressive celebrations at the cemeteries with music, dances, food stands etc.
12th December:Pororo Party famous for Garifuna folks dressed in the indigenous Maya outfit and dancing in a pogo-like style.
25th December:Christmas Day. The principal food is tamale. On this day the streets of the town fill with the Yankunu dance.
26th December:Garifuna Day, the "don't miss" party in Livingston. The preparations start already a week before and it is celebrated with lots of dancing on the streets, local food, bands playing Punta music and joyful church celebrations.
24th–31st of December:an official holiday in Livingston. It is celebrated with religious activities, sport competitions and cultural events. 28th December is the most important day with even more celebrations and lots of dancing on the street.
31st December:New Year celebration with lots of colorful fireworks and the Yankunu dancing on the streets.
